Food News: Funny Names

Younger kids who are picky about eating fruits and vegetables may eat more if you give them funny names. This is what researchers from Cornell University found out in a study that was presented to the School Nutrition Association and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The funny names included X-Ray Vision Carrots, Power Peas, Dinosaur Broccoli Trees and Tomato Bursts. Although the study was conducted on preschoolers, researchers believe this would also work with older kids, too. And some restaurants have found this to be the case with more catchy names for menu items. The study author was Brian Wansink and he is the author of "Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Eat More Than We Think." FMI see schoolnutrition.org
