Food Groups for Vitamins

The whole concept behind the 4 Food Groups which became the Food Guide Pyramid which became MyPyramid which is now MyPlate is that you get all of the nutrients you need by balancing your diet with food groups. For example, if you are getting enough fruits and vegetables you will mostly likely receive all of the vitamin C that you need. There is little evidence that taking a vitamin is beneficial but there is substantial evidence that it is harmful, except for D.
