Creating new and helpful resources for food and health educators is so fun. I want to share a new handout I made just for you— a Nutrition Month quiz! Check it out! It tests your basic knowledge and mindset.

Nutrition Month Quiz

Answers:

  1. A. True. You have the power to change and improve your eating pattern.

  2. C. Variety, nutrient density, and amount. These are the three keys to a healthful eating pattern. According to the guidelines, “To meet nutrient needs within calorie limits, choose a variety of nutrient-dense foods across and within all food groups in recommended amounts.”

  3. B. Fats/oils. MyPlate comprises fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy. Although MyPlate addresses fats and oils, they do not get their own space on the plate graphic and are incorporated within the other food groups.

  4. A. True. The Dietary Guidelines encourage Americans to control portions and make better eating choices.

  5. A. Can. That’s right, those small shifts can make a huge impact. Plus, more minor shifts are more simple to sustain over time.
