Free Cooking Substitution Infographic
Making simple changes in the kitchen can have big results.Making that lesson clear and memorable for your clients, on the other hand, can be a bit tricky. That's why my team and I have made a brand-new infographic that highlights ways to make healthful substitutions in order to save calories in the kitchen. Here it is, in all its glory -- what do you think?I've been using these principles in my own kitchen for years. And look at the results! By replacing 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine with applesauce, you can save 50 calories. This can easily be scaled for baked goods like banana bread and brownies.Another great substitution is replacing an egg with 1/4 cup egg whites or egg substitute. Calorie savings like these can add up quickly, so have your clients try this out in their next omelette or scramble.Oh and before I stop talking substitutions, did y0u know that you can save 37 calories and 5 grams of fat by replacing a tablespoon of cream cheese with a tablespoon of nonfat cream cheese? This is great for bagels and wraps, sure, but it's also great news when it comes to making cream cheese frosting!Anyway, if you like the handout, you can also get a PDF copy to save and use as you see fit.
