Quick Quiz for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month

June is Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month!

Pique your audience's interest in these tasty foods by introducing some riddles from Hollis Bass, MEd, RD, LD. Hollis designed this quiz to highlight especially nutritious fruits and vegetables. In fact, the answers to her riddles just happen to score among the top 20 fruits and vegetables for antioxidant power, as measured by the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) method.

The ORAC test is one way that researchers determine the antioxidant activity of various foods.

After you solve the riddles, stock up on fresh fruits and veggies. Summer is the easiest time to follow MyPlate's advice and fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables. After all, at this time of year, so many fresh fruits and veggies are in season and at their peak of flavor.

But enough about background -- let's get to the riddles...
