McDonald’s McCafe Coffee – Best Bets

Submitted by Judy on July 16, 2009 – 8:20 am4 Comments

coffeecup

Calories Fat
Coffee (small or large) 0 0
Nonfat McCafe:
Nonfat Cappuccino (small) 60 0
Nonfat Cappuccino (large) 90 0
Nonfat Latte (small) 90 0
Nonfat Latte (large) 120 0
Nonfat Caramel Cappuccino (small) 150 0
Nonfat Caramel Cappuccino (large) 230 0
Here are the stats from mcdonalds.com regarding the nutrition information for their new McCafe drinks which are popular at the moment. As you can see by this chart, not all coffee is created equal. We were quite surprised when we saw the amount of calories in the sweetened versions .
If your McCafe is made with whole milk the calories range from 120 to 290. The most surprising thing to us is that Iced Coffees range from 120-230 calories.
You can see by our chart that the best bets are the nonfat drinks without the sugar syrup.  If you imbibe on many coffee drinks with sugar and cream per week the calories can really stack up.

I have to say that I do enjoy the taste of the McCafe Coffee much more than I do that of Tim Hortons. The only issue I have with McDonalds is that they haven’t put enough emphasis on teaching their employees the difference between Regular or Decaf. I have noticed this several times as I have a sleep intolerance to regular coffee, and of all times last night I was away for work – and still at 3:45, and 7:02 I was still awake due to the coffee that I had received. Of course I request Decaf – but it’s up to the discression of the employee to make sure that they give me what I order – and let’s face it – how many times have you had to return something to the restaurant because it’s not what you ordered??? The only difference between decaf and regular is that you can’t tell by looking in the cup to find out if you’re drinking decaf or not, so you don’t find out till hours later – when you’re on the hook and ready to do a major presentation in the morning and you havent had a lick of sleep.

That’s the only beef I’ve got with McCafe Coffee. But I do love the taste – find some way to change the colour so your employees can differentiate the 2 please.

Does anyone know the calories for the Cafe Mocha’s, with non-fat milk?

Hi. My LTC facility is trying regular iced coffee as a beverage for staff and residents. Everyone loves it–filling 12 and 16 oz cups full of the beverage. I showed several staff (nurses) the information on iced coffee from Mc Donalds. They were stunned and amazed at the amount of calories and fat in a cup of iced coffee. Now they are asking for a sugar free version!!
